OpenAI, in partnership with Oracle, has announced a major expansion of its Stargate project. The Stargate buildout is part of a $500 billion investment plan for AI infrastructure over the next four years. This investment is creating over 100,000 jobs in construction, operations, manufacturing, and local services, indicating its scale as a significant economic project. The Oracle partnership extends Stargate’s infrastructure in Texas and includes broad collaboration with tech firms to meet power and cooling demands at scale.

In parallel, Elon Musk’s xAI has unveiled plans to deploy 50 million Nvidia H100-scale GPU units over the next five years to support their Grok language model training. This compute infrastructure is vastly larger than typical current deployments. xAI already operates 230,000 GPUs, including 30,000 Nvidia GB200 GPUs, forming their first Colossus supercluster for Grok.
