Empowering Seniors with AI: A New Workshop at Zukunftswerk Wiesbaden
AI Education for the Elderly: Elderly Individuals Embrace Artificial Intelligence in Their Daily Routines
Zukunftswerk Wiesbaden, a forward-thinking hub located in the heart of Wiesbaden, is set to host a series of workshops aimed at lowering the digital threshold and sparking curiosity, especially among seniors. One such workshop, focused on Artificial Intelligence (AI) and ChatGPT, is scheduled to begin in April 2025.
The city of Wiesbaden is offering this workshop as a means to provide older people with an understanding and secure use of AI technology, viewing digital participation as a matter of justice. The workshop will be interactive, aimed at helping participants use AI tools effectively, and will be tailored to beginners, ensuring a personal and guided learning experience.
The FemAILab, a digital empowerment initiative for women, will also be a part of this workshop, offering practical AI engagement and digital inclusion. Every Monday, women can engage with AI at the FemAILab, which is free and self-determined. The FemAILab is accompanied by a coach and is in cooperation with the Senior Council.
The AI workshop for seniors will take place over two dates per group: April 17 and 24 for Group 1, and May 8 and 15 for Group 2. Registration for the workshop can be done at anny.eu/book/chatgpt-for-seniors for Group 1 and anny.eu/book/chatgpt-for-seniors-ii for Group 2.
According to Angelika Dortmann, chair of the Senior Council, AI offers many opportunities for older people, including more independence in daily life and participation in societal developments. The workshop will cover topics such as how to formulate questions, recognize serious content, and protect data, all presented in a manner understandable for seniors without technical jargon.
