AI Technology from MTS Aids in Economic Monitoring in Kamchatka Region
In a groundbreaking development, Mobile TeleSystems (MTS), a leading Russian telecommunications company, has introduced an AI-based environmental risk management platform in Kamchatka Krai. This platform, the first of its kind domestically, combines AI analytics, machine learning, and advanced technology for air and water quality monitoring.
The innovative service predicts potential negative environmental impacts from specific pollution sources 48 hours in advance, a feature that could significantly aid in preventing environmental catastrophes. The system is equipped with compact air monitoring posts that detect concentrations of gases, particles, temperature, pressure, relative humidity, wind speed, and direction.
For water quality monitoring, analytical buoys determine parameters such as oxygen concentration, pH, salinity, turbidity, oil product control, ammonia ion activity, and water level, including river flooding.
The service enables continuous monitoring of the environmental situation, prevention and investigation of environmental violations, and minimization of financial and environmental risks. Meteorological models and pollution concentration maps are built using combinations of the most advanced forecasting models in the scientific community.
MTS's platform is currently undergoing the process of being added to the Ministry of Industry and Trade's AI Solutions Registry. The company has also added its own "System for Proactive Management of Environmental Risks" platform to the Unified Register of Domestic Software.
Yevgeniya Salnikova, MTS Kamchatka Krai Director, commented on the initiative, stating, "The region prioritizes the protection of natural heritage and supports eco-initiatives from business representatives." She further added that large enterprises in the Kamchatka Krai are actively implementing environmentally friendly technologies and developing regenerative economy technologies.
The integration of AI into environmental protection efforts in the Kamchatka Krai, as demonstrated by MTS, is expected to further strengthen the region's position in promoting environmentally friendly practices.
