Amazon's New Fire TV Stick 4K Select Falls Short of Predecessors

Amazon has launched the Fire TV Stick 4K Select, but it's a step down from previous models. Meanwhile, Prime Day deals are here, with discounts on older Fire TV Sticks and other tech.

The new Fire TV Stick 4K Select runs on Vega OS Linux, a departure from the Android-based Fire OS used in older models. However, it has less RAM, lacks Dolby Vision HDR and WiFi 6, and may not offer the same smooth multitasking experience.

Older models, now discounted up to 51%, offer better specs. The Fire TV Stick HD is down 47%, the 4K model is reduced by 51%, the 4K Max by 45%, and the Fire TV Cube by 38%. These models have 2GB RAM, Dolby Vision HDR, WiFi 6, and the mature Fire OS.

All Fire TV Sticks provide access to various streaming apps, free movies, TV series, and high-quality audio and video formats. The Alexa voice remote enables voice control and smart home management.

The Fire TV Stick 4K Select, while new, offers less than its predecessors. Older models, now discounted ahead of Prime Day on October 7 and 8, provide better value. Keep an eye out for potential offers during Amazon Prime Day 2025.
