Amitabh Kant Joins IndiGo Board to Boost India's Transportation Sector
Amitabh Kant, a distinguished governance reformer and geo-political strategist, has been appointed as a non-executive director on the board of InterGlobe Aviation Limited, subject to approvals. Kant, who previously served as the CEO of NITI Aayog, is known for driving initiatives like Make in India and Startup India. IndiGo aims to utilise his expertise to boost India's transportation sector.
Kant's appointment comes after a successful tenure at NITI Aayog, where he spearheaded the Aspirational Districts Program and promoted economic policy reforms. He also served as India's Sherpa to Prime Minister Narendra Modi during the G20 Presidency, delivering the New Delhi Leaders' Declaration. Kant's experience in driving large-scale sustainability initiatives like the Green Hydrogen Mission and the National Mission on Transformative Mobility and Battery Storage is expected to bring valuable insights to IndiGo.
Vikram Singh Mehta, Chairman of the Board of Directors of IndiGo, welcomed Kant's addition to the board. Mehta praised Kant's rich administrative experience and leadership qualities, which are anticipated to contribute significantly to IndiGo's growth.
