Anthropic Names Rahul Patil as New CTO Amidst Amazon, Google Backing

Anthropic, a leading AI company, has appointed Rahul Patil as its new Chief Technology Officer (CTO). Patil succeeds co-founder Sam McCandlish, marking a significant shift in the company's leadership. The appointment comes amidst substantial financial backing from tech giants Amazon and Google.

Anthropic, founded in 2021 by former OpenAI members, has raised a staggering $31.2 billion in total capital. Amazon and Google have been key financial supporters, with Amazon investing at least $8 billion and Google contributing around $400 million in early 2023. Google's investment has given it a 14 percent stake in the company. The strategic partnership with Google also sees Anthropic using Google Cloud for its AI model development.

Patil brings a wealth of experience to his new role. With nearly two decades in the tech industry, he has shaped technology at major firms like Amazon Web Services, Microsoft, Oracle Cloud Infrastructure, and Stripe. Currently based in Seattle, Patil's roots are deeply embedded in Bengaluru, where he earned his computer science degree from PESIT.
