AST SpaceMobile Fully Funded, Plans 60-Satellite Fleet by 2026
AST SpaceMobile, a Texas-based company, has secured full funding for its ambitious satellite deployment project. With $1.5 billion in cash, the company plans to launch at least four more missions by March 2023, aiming to reach 60 satellites by the end of 2026. This expansion follows a recent 8% rise in AST SpaceMobile's shares to $49.76.
The company's growth strategy includes a Block 2 BlueBird satellite launch from India in August. This mission will triple the company's capacity and support peak data rates of up to 120 Mbps. AST SpaceMobile is also acquiring satellite spectrum to boost capacity, including a $64.5 million deal for up to 60 MHz of global S-band rights.
AST SpaceMobile has secured multi-launch agreements with prominent rocket providers like SpaceX's Falcon 9 and Blue Origin's New Glenn. The company anticipates generating $50 million to $75 million in revenue during the second half of 2025 from government contracts and early service sales. While specific network operator collaborations are not yet disclosed, AST SpaceMobile is working on a direct-to-handset satellite service.
