Baltic Container Terminal Boosts Efficiency with Lattelecom's Private 5G Network

The Baltic Container Terminal (BCT) in Riga Freeport has significantly upgraded its private network. Lattelecom installed a private 5G network, offering comprehensive coverage, faster data speeds, and substantial cost savings.

BCT, spanning over 50 hectares, previously struggled with unstable WiFi and lost connectivity for moving vehicles. The new private 5G network, provided by Lattelecom, includes a 5G Core, outdoor antennas, routers, and Zebra tablets. It has eliminated these issues, ensuring uninterrupted data flow and minimising container handling time.

The upgrade also brought modern Push-to-Talk (PTT) solutions, replacing outdated analog radios. These allow image and video transmission, enhancing communication among staff. BCT's competitiveness has improved, with reduced vessel idle time. Employee satisfaction and security levels have also risen.

The private 5G network at BCT, provided by Lattelecom, has transformed communication and operations. It offers complete coverage, fast data speeds, and enhanced security. The terminal can now handle containers more efficiently, boosting its competitiveness in the Baltic region.
