BASF Halts Hydrosulfite Production at Ludwigshafen, Aims to Focus on Growth
BASF, the world's largest chemical producer, is discontinuing hydrosulfite production at its Ludwigshafen site. This decision is part of a strategic review led by Dr. Ramkumar Dhruva, Head of the Monomers division. Around 65 employees will be supported to find new roles within the company.
Hydrosulfites, used as reducing agents in textile dyeing and bleaching agents in pulp and paper processing, will no longer be produced at the Ludwigshafen site. BASF will phase out the supply of hydrosulfite F, HydroBlue 90, HydroBlue 92, Hydrosulfite Evo, Adlite, and Blankit. Dr. Dhruva explains that this move aligns with BASF's Winning Ways strategy, focusing on profitability and long-term value creation.
