Baxter Aerospace Secures $6 Million Series A Funding from DoD Accelerator

Baxter Aerospace, a Utah-based aerospace company, has secured a significant investment of $6 million in a Series A funding round from the DoD Accelerator Fund, managed by Accuidity Capital Management. This marks the first defense sector investment for the fund and is seen as crucial for Baxter Aerospace's development of products specifically for the armed forces of the U.S. and firefighters.

The investment will primarily be used to expand Baxter Aerospace's factory capacity and support critical use cases including disaster response and defense applications. This funding will enable the company to scale its manufacturing capabilities and enhance its product offerings aligned with Department of Defense priorities.

Baxter Aerospace's flagship product, the BA-1 Dragonfly Unmanned Aircraft, is designed for intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (ISR). With over 12 hours of endurance, the BA-1 Dragonfly is well-suited for long-duration missions. The company's Deployable Communications Kits equip aircraft and field platforms with broadband satellite communications for challenging operations like firefighting and disaster response. These kits utilize compact terminals linked to low Earth orbit (LEO) networks for U.S. government public safety applications.

Scott Bledsoe, General Partner of the DoD Accelerator, stated that Baxter's forward-deployed communications kits and long-endurance UAS platform solve urgent operational problems for military and government users. Michael Baxter, President and Co-Founder of Baxter Aerospace, stated that the DoD Accelerator is the ideal partner as they expand into multiple defense programs.

Baxter Aerospace also manufactures custom, high-reliability components for fusion and nuclear energy sectors, catering to defense and critical infrastructure needs. The company specializes in advanced manufacturing and aerospace integration, focusing on real-time sensing and resilient communications for defense, intelligence, and emergency response clients.

The investment from the DoD Accelerator Fund will also fund expansion of field operations for Baxter Aerospace. With this strategic partnership, Baxter Aerospace plans to accelerate its next phase of growth, leveraging the DoD Accelerator's experience and deep advisory network.
