BLG Logistics Reports Stunning Growth in High & Heavy Cargo and Automobile Sales
BLG Logistics has reported a significant boost in its operations, with a notable increase in high and heavy cargo and a remarkable surge in sales within its Automobile division. The company's Bremerhaven terminal has also seen a turnaround, contributing to the group's overall sales growth.
BLG's high and heavy cargo throughput at Bremerhaven grew by 0.2 million metric tons to reach 1.3 million tons. Meanwhile, the Automobile division's sales soared by a staggering 933.6% to €641.9m ($687.2m), primarily driven by higher transport and storage revenues.
The Bremerhaven AutoTerminal played a crucial role in this success. After restructuring and transformation processes, it achieved a positive result in 2023, bolstered by new contracts with key accounts. The terminal handled and processed an impressive 5 million vehicles in the financial year. Furthermore, it has entered into a cooperation agreement with Haitong ro-ro terminal in Shanghai to support Chinese auto manufacturers' vehicle exports to Europe.
Despite these developments, Bremerhaven remains an open port, welcoming all shipping companies and automotive manufacturers.
BLG's overall group sales reflected this growth, increasing by 8.1% to €1.21 billion in FY2023. While specific Chinese car manufacturers were not named, Bremerhaven's status as a major European automobile hub for both imports and exports was reinforced.
