Blockchain-Powered AI Data Labeling Platform Secures $5 Million in Seed Funding

Sapien, a Web3 startup, is the latest addition to the growing list of companies bridging blockchain technology and AI. The company, which is building a blockchain infrastructure for training AI models, has recently secured a $5 million Series A funding round.

The funding round was led by Primitive Ventures, Animoca, and Yield Guild Games, with participation from Variant Fund, HF0, and notable angel investors. This round marks a continuation of the involvement of Primitive Ventures and Animoca, who also led the startup's initial seed round.

Sapien's unique approach to data labelling, combining advanced technology with human expertise, is a crucial differentiator. James Ho, Head of Animoca Ventures, believes this combination will make Sapien an ideal partner for companies looking to train their AI models with the best data possible. Sapien's deep understanding of the market and commitment to customer success further solidify its position.

The funds raised will be used to accelerate the innovation of Sapien's AI training models with gamified data labelling powered by blockchain technology. This innovative approach rewards data labellers, or 'Sapiens', for providing accurate annotations.

Sapien's platform has attracted a diverse range of companies from healthcare, web3, education, and leading LLMs. The platform allows users to tag text, images, and other data types with labels, creating an AI data marketplace for businesses.

Other AI training companies are also making headlines. Last month, AI training firm FLock raised $6 million in a funding round led by Lightspeed. Meanwhile, Raiinmaker, another AI training company, raised $7.5 million in a funding round led by Jump Capital and Cypher Capital.

Dragonfly was the lead investor in Web3 AI startup MyShell's $11 million pre-Series A round. The funds raised will undoubtedly contribute to the ongoing innovation in the AI training sector.

As Sapien continues to grow, Co-Founder Trevor Koverko stated that the company is building the world's largest network of 'Sapiens'. With the recent funding and continued support from industry leaders, Sapien is well-positioned to achieve this goal.

In the ever-evolving landscape of AI and blockchain technology, Sapien is making strides in creating a human-powered AI training data network that promises to revolutionise the way businesses train their AI models.
