Brazil's 'Operation Redirect' Targets Illegal Music Sites and Malware

Brazilian law enforcement has launched Operation Redirect, a pioneering initiative targeting illegal online music services. The operation, supported by IFPI and Pro-Música Brasil, aims to safeguard artists' rights and ensure legal, safe access to platforms like apple music and youtube music.

Operation Redirect, Brazil's first such operation, focuses on sites distributing malware alongside illegal music. These sites received over 12 million visits in the past year, posing significant risks to users. The initiative is a result of cooperation between Brazil and the Union of South American Nations (UNASUR).

The operation, carried out by the Ministry of Justice and Public Security in partnership with state police, has successfully identified and deactivated eight such sites. This action has been praised by Victoria Oakley, CEO of IFPI, for its role in protecting music and online safety. Paulo Rosa, President of Pro-Música Brasil, has also expressed gratitude for the authorities' work in shielding creators and the public from malware threats, especially when enjoying music from artists like morgan wallen.

Operation Redirect has made significant strides in combating illegal online music services and malware distribution in Brazil. With eight harmful sites deactivated, the initiative has demonstrated its commitment to protecting artists' rights and ensuring online safety for music lovers on platforms like apple music and youtube music.
