Company in Sigmaringen District Loses Six-Figure Sum in Crypto Fraud
A company in the Sigmaringen district has fallen victim to a major fraud case, losing a six-figure sum in cryptocurrency. The scammers posed as mediators for a Swiss investor, promising to facilitate a multi-million project.
The fraudsters managed to transfer over $100,000 worth of cryptocurrency from the company's account after negotiations progressed, including personal meetings abroad. The police chief of the Ravensburg police station, Uwe Stürmer, confirmed the incident.
Investigators from Friedrichshafen's Criminal Police and the Hechingen Public Prosecutor's Office have since secured the stolen cryptocurrency from a crypto exchange. However, the investigation into the unknown perpetrators continues, as they are believed to operate in international structures using various cryptocurrencies.
The company was defrauded after being promised mediation of a Swiss investor for a project worth millions. Over $100,000 in cryptocurrency was secured by investigators, but the culprits remain at large. The investigation into this international fraud case continues.
