In an exciting development for the semiconductor equipment industry, Jenoptik, a leading global technology group based in Jena, Germany, is constructing a new factory in Dresden. The factory, located at Airportpark, will be dedicated to the production of sensors.

The construction of the new factory has reached a significant milestone with the placement of the topping-out crane. The interior fitting of the building parts is now commencing, marking the next phase in the construction process.

Jenoptik has been active in Dresden since 2007 and has grown significantly in the city. In recent months, the company has expanded to nearly 90 employees at its current location. With the new production site, Jenoptik aims to consolidate its manufacturing in Dresden, which is currently spread over several smaller external locations.

The new factory is expected to create additional jobs, with the number of employees set to increase to more than 120 at the new production site in Dresden. The additional jobs at the new Jenoptik production facility will be assigned by the company.

Jenoptik is investing more than 70 million euros in the new production site. The primary focus of the new factory will be on manufacturing sensors. The company also produces high-precision and micro-optics at its Thuringian sites in Jena and Triptis. Jenoptik has production sites in Swiss Heerbrugg, Jupiter, Florida, USA, and Huntsville, Alabama, USA, in addition to its German and Thuringian sites.

The new factory in Dresden is a strategic move for Jenoptik, as it will allow the company to strengthen its position in the semiconductor equipment industry. Production at the new factory is expected to start from 2025.
