Daily New York Times 'Connections' Challenge: Clues and Solutions for Sunday, February 16th Reformulation

Hey there, pals! Hope you're having a swell weekend so far. I've been pretty much laying low lately, especially after that latest snowstorm left us with a whopping 15 inches! So, I've been bingeing on some flicks, playing ball games, and just taking it easy. If you're doing the same, kudos to you!

Fancy joining a Connections and this column's chat group on Discord? It's a blast chatting with others, sharing your thoughts, and discussing the game. Plus, it's a great way to keep me in the loop if I ever make a booboo.

New Connections hints and answers for February 16 are coming your way!

How To Play Connections

Connections is an engaging, gratis New York Times daily word game. You can get a fresh puzzle every day at midnight.Play online on the NYT website or through the Games app.

You're given a 16x16 grid of words. Your goal is to team up the words into four groups of four, figuring out the connections between them. They could be things like items with clickable links, research participants, or words starting with body part prefixes.

Each group is color-coded. Starting from the easiest and working your way up, the color codings are yellow, blue, green, and, finally, the most challenging, purple. The purple group often features wordplay.

By guessing four words that seem to fit together, press 'Submit.' If you guess incorrectly, you lose a 'life.' If you're only a word away, you'll get a prompt indicating which one to swap. It's a game over once you've made four errors.

Problem-solving and keen observation skills are essential for success in Connections. If you're an NYT All Access or Games subscription holder, you gain access to the Connections article archive, including every past game you may have missed.

I tripped up on a couple of words and couldn't complete the game with a perfect score. Nonetheless, my winning streak still adds up. Here's how I fared:

🟦🟦🟦🟦 🟨🟨🟩🟨 🟨🟨🟨🟨 🟪🟪🟩🟪 🟪🟪🟪🟪 🟩🟩🟩🟩

I was drawn to TRIUMPH after noticing the Insult Comic Dog. I guess LAMB CHOP tipped me off to a group of puppets! PUNCH and OSCAR were natural matches, too. I messed up on my next try, using COMPLEMENT instead of TOUCH and losing a life.

I managed to figure out the yellows, but the greens stumped me at first. There were five possibilities - MATCH, FIT, COMPLEMENT, SET, SUIT. I went with MATCH, CONNECT, or HARMONIZE. I then attempted the purples, guessing POINT, BOX, SET, and RETREIVE. Right, I was one away from a group, swapped out SET for FIT, and voila, my first win!

I struggled immensely with the purples, but the greens still awaited their win.

Enjoy solving today's Connections puzzle! Check back tomorrow for Monday's game clues if you need them.

PS: My favorite musical, incredibly nostalgic, is Grease. It never fails to elevate my mood. I can't remember when last I watched it, so I better rectify that soon.
