Daily NYT Mini Crossword Puzzle Solutions for December 23's Edition (Monday)

If you skipped last Sunday's NYT Mini, you can catch up here:

The NYT Mini is a brief and straightforward version of the larger, long-lasting crossword from the New York Times. Most days, it features around three to five hints in each row on a 5x5 grid, but the puzzles can sometimes expand, especially on Saturdays.

Unlike its larger counterpart, the NYT Mini is available for free to play on the New York Times website or its NYT Games app. However, to access earlier puzzles in the archives, you'll need a subscription to NYT Games.

The NYT Mini offers a fun daily break, typically solved in no time at all. I aim to complete the weekday grid in less than a minute, but sometimes I struggle with one or two clues and need assistance.

To help you avoid the same situation, here are the answers for the NYT Mini Crossword (beware of spoilers ahead):

NYT Mini Crossword Puzzle Answers (Spot the Spoilers!)

ACROSS

1) Character with an intense blue hue - SMURF

6) Gulf state midway between Saudi Arabia and the Iranian border - QATAR

7) Unfasten, as a knot - UNTIE

8) Intermediary hired by an author - AGENT

9) Opponent of the Labour Party in British politics - TORY

DOWN

1) Activity catchers do behind home plate or a term describing their physique - SQUAT

2) Tropical fruit used in a sweet dish - MANGO

3) Say something aloud - UTTER

4) Typical weather in the Pacific Northwest - RAINY

5) Metallic strip on a guitar neck - FRET

I breezed through this one without much challenge. The hint for Qatar was clear from the get-go, and the catcher's clue was just as straightforward, leading me to guess Squat. I'm not well-versed in British politics, but Tory proved helpful this time.
