Delta Flight DL59 Returns to Heathrow Due to Cockpit Fumes

Delta Air Lines flight DL59 from London to Boston, operated by an Airbus A330-900neo (N411DX), returned to London-Heathrow Airport on Sunday, October 5, 2025, due to cockpit fumes. The flight, carrying 259 passengers, made a safe landing around one hour and 35 minutes after taking off.

Upon landing, the aircraft was greeted by airport fire and rescue vehicles as a precaution. The incident comes days after Delta announced it was replacing hundreds of auxiliary power units (APUs) on its fleet of Airbus A320 aircraft to prevent similar events. Despite the delay, Delta issued a statement apologizing to customers and assuring them of their safety priority.

The names of the pilot and flight attendants operating the flight are not publicly available. The cause of the fumes is under investigation. Delta continues to prioritize safety and will work to resolve any issues promptly.
