DHL Freight & Mercedes-Benz Trucks Kickstart Emission-Free Logistics with eActros
DHL Freight and Mercedes-Benz Trucks have joined forces to reduce emissions in transport. The first 12 eActros 300 trucks are now in use for just-in-time delivery, making around 50 journeys daily to the Woerth plant in Germany.
The eActros 300 tractor-trailers, designed for regional distribution, are powered by two electric engines with a peak output of up to 400 kW. They have a range of approximately 220km and can recharge from 20% to 80% in about one hour and 15 minutes at a charging capacity of up to 160kW. DHL Supply Chain has installed fast chargers at its sites in Hagen and Koblenz to support this initiative.
DHL Group aims to increase the share of electric vehicles in its delivery fleet to 60% and vehicles running on sustainable fuels to more than 30%. Mercedes-Benz Trucks has delivered 12 battery-electric trucks to its logistics providers, with plans to deliver around 50 units by the end of the year. DHL Freight is also testing a hydrogen truck from Paul Nutzfahrzeuge.
The partnership between DHL Freight and Mercedes-Benz Trucks is a significant step towards greener logistics. The eActros 300 trucks are proving their worth in daily operations, and with continued investment in charging infrastructure and vehicle testing, DHL Group's sustainability goals are within reach.
