Gamecity Hamburg, a renowned institution that has been supporting game projects for the past 20 years, has announced the six game projects that will receive prototype funding in 2023. Since the first funding round in 2020, a total of 27 prototypes have been supported with €1,536,000.

The current round of funded projects includes a diverse range of games. "Metacore" by Amberdive Interactive, a co-op shooter where players transform into small high-tech balls, is one of the projects. Tiny Roar, on the other hand, aims to develop a humorous point-and-click adventure with "Project Renaissance".

Another intriguing game is "Reddie", a mixed-reality puzzle game featuring the main character Reddie. Meanwhile, "Light of Atlantis" by Drown Town invites players to control water to solve puzzles and uncover the secrets of Atlantis. "Stack 'Em Up" by Godcomplex Games, a multiplayer party game where involuntary gaming partnerships are formed, adds a unique twist to the list.

The selection process for these projects was rigorous. A total of 24 teams applied for Gamecity Hamburg's prototype funding, and a five-member jury of Hamburg industry experts meticulously selected the six projects for the current funding round.

Dennis Schoubye, head of Gamecity Hamburg, has stated the positive effects of their funding programs. He emphasised the importance of providing opportunities for game developers to bring their ideas to life.

Three teams from the current round of funded projects have completed the Games Lift Incubator program, a testament to the success of Gamecity Hamburg's initiatives. The next application phase for prototype funding is scheduled to start in spring 2024, offering more opportunities for aspiring game developers.
