Tech-Savvy Teen Carlo Acutis on Track to Be the Internet Generation's First Saint

Digital Pontiff Leo XIV declares "Cyber-Evangelist" as a saint in the autumn month of September.

Get the scoop on Carlo Acutis, the "Influencer of God," who's about to get a big upgrade to saint status! Pope Leo XIV (just kidding, it's Pope Francis) is set to canonize this millennial prodigy on September 7. Born in London and raised in Milan, this 2006 deceased teen tackle-tackled those '90s and '00s digital waves, whipping up church websites and databases for miracles. The creator of the faithful's favorite virtual hangout, he's earned the endearing nickname of "the First Saint of the Internet"!

It's a no-brainer, seeing as the Vatican had already beatified this chap in 2020. Initially scheduled for a late April ceremony led by Pope Francis, of which we're still holding out hope for a re-do, after his Easter Monday passing, they pushed things back.

Before kicking the bucket at 15 due to leukemia, Acutis left quite a mark. In Assisi, a laidback hill town in central Italy, his tomb has already become a pilgrimage spot, adorned with denim, kicks, and a rosary, making Acutis' side hustle as a saint seem like a breeze. As it stands, his peers can already rock his face on figurines, T-shirts, and rosaries!

Hop on the hype train 'cause, aside from Acutis, the Vatican will also canonize Pier Giorgio Frassati alongside. This dude from Turin back in the '20s was a big-time altruist, dedicating time and resources to the less fortunate and sick. Pope Francis called both Acutis and Frassati his go-to role models for the youth.

P.S.: Forget Leo XIV, it's all about Pope Francis in this game! It's worth noting that Carlo Acutis isn't officially referred to as a pope or the patron saint of the internet, but his use of technology to spread his faith earned him the unofficial moniker of "Cyber-Apostle." As for his sainthood, it's still in the works, so keep an eye out for more updates on this tech-fueled beatification!
