Bavaria initiates first nationwide mobile network measurement week to eliminate persisting dead zones
In a bid to eradicate mobile network dead zones that persist in the region, the authorities in Bavaria have launched the country's first nationwide mobile network measurement week. Economics Minister Hubert Aiwanger (Free Voters) expressed the importance of addressing network issues for both personal and professional use.
Officials are urging citizens to participate in this campaign by reporting locations with poor or no mobile coverage through the official app of the Federal Network Agency (BNetzA). By doing so, they aim to enhance network mapping and take steps to improve the quality of mobile coverage across the country.
Minister Aiwanger emphasized the urgent need for addressing these dead zones, acknowledging that new cell towers have been built as part of a EUR 130 million funding program. Additionally, the ministry supports municipalities in constructing cell towers, which can then be leased to network operators.
