"Divine Protections Failed: Father Battling for Life After Flesh-Eating Bacteria Infection"
Florida Father Battles Flesh-Eating Bacteria
Ben West, a loving and family-oriented man from Florida, is currently fighting for his life after being infected with Vibrio Vulnificus, a rare and dangerous flesh-eating bacteria.
Last Saturday morning, West and his family were enjoying a day of crabbing and mullet fishing under the intercoastal passover bridge, entering Port St. Joe from Mexico Beach. However, the day took a turn for the worse when West began to exhibit signs of confusion and disorientation.
Janie Knowles, West's fiancée, took him to Ascension Sacred Heart Bay on Tuesday morning. Upon arrival, she described numerous blisters on West's body that were bursting, and his leg swelling significantly, making it four times larger than the other one. West's swelling was progressing rapidly, according to family members, and his leg tissue was severely affected, similar to a third-degree burn.
Since then, West has undergone two surgeries this week, during which doctors drained fluids from his leg. Unfortunately, he still has three more surgeries to undergo. The infection has also caused West's kidneys and liver to fail.
The ongoing emotional struggle for Ben West's family during this critical time is palpable. Faith has been a source of comfort for them, with Keith, Ben West's father, expressing his faith in God's control. The family has also been expressing gratitude for the support and prayers they have received from the community.
In an effort to help with the mounting medical expenses, Ben West's family has set up a GoFundMe campaign. Donations can be made through the link provided on the campaign page.
As Ben West continues his battle against Vibrio Vulnificus, the community's emotional support remains a beacon of hope for his family. They believe in prayer as a source of comfort and strength during this difficult time.
Update: Since the initial publication of this article, there have been no updates regarding Ben West's condition or treatment. The location where he was treated remains unknown.
