DoubleZero Launches Mainnet-Beta: A Global Network for Faster Blockchain Transactions

DoubleZero, a blockchain infrastructure project, has launched its mainnet-beta, a global network of private fiber routes designed specifically for blockchain traffic. The project aims to enable applications like NASDAQ trading on-chain by lowering network latency.

DoubleZero's network is built on a private backbone that spans over 70 leased fiber connections across 30 cities and five continents. This network is composed of high-speed fiber lines, offering direct routing with lower latency and higher bandwidth than traditional public networks. The project has signed on 386 Solana validators, representing over 20% of network stake, to route data over its private backbone.

The long-term vision of DoubleZero is to enable applications like NASDAQ trading on-chain by lowering network latency. The project is designed to be chain-agnostic, with plans to support other blockchains and distributed systems in the future. Contributors to DoubleZero's network are mostly infrastructure providers with long-term leases on fiber, compensated in 2Z tokens. Austin Federa, co-founder of DoubleZero, argues that crypto's scaling bottlenecks have shifted away from software.

DoubleZero's mainnet-beta launch marks a significant step towards enabling faster, more efficient blockchain transactions. With its private backbone spanning multiple continents and supporting over 20% of network stake, DoubleZero is well-positioned to achieve its goal of lowering network latency for on-chain applications. The project's chain-agnostic design and compensation model for infrastructure providers further strengthen its potential for widespread adoption.
