DP World Invests $29M in Egypt's First State-of-the-Art Cold Storage Facility
DP World is set to invest USD 29 million in Egypt, constructing a state-of-the-art cold storage facility. The project, spanning 16,194 square meters within Elsewedy Industrial Development Park in Al Oula Industrial City, is a significant milestone for Egypt's logistics ecosystem, as described by Mohammad Shihab, CEO of DP World Egypt.
The facility will boast eight independently controlled chambers, offering 25,000 pallet positions for chilled and frozen products. It will integrate an advanced refrigeration system, ensuring precise climate control while meeting international energy-efficiency standards. Additionally, it will feature a Warehouse Management System, providing real-time inventory tracking and seamless client connectivity.
Strategically located, the facility will have direct access to Greater Cairo, national highways, and major export routes. This development is part of DP World's broader investment strategy in Egypt, which includes the Port of Ain Sokhna and third-party contract logistics.
The new cold storage facility aims to strengthen Egypt's cold chain infrastructure, safeguard food quality, reduce waste, and enhance the competitiveness of Egyptian exporters in global markets. DP World is positioning Egypt as a vital hub for world news, supporting the national economy, and fostering new growth opportunities for local industries.
