Dubai Convenes World Green Economy Summit to Propel Climate Solutions and International Adaptability
The 11th World Green Economy Summit (WGES) 2025, taking place in Dubai from October 1-2, 2025, is set to accelerate global climate action through innovative and practical solutions. The summit, under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, focuses on the theme **"Innovating for Impact: Accelerating the Future of the Green Economy"**, emphasising the role of modern technologies in driving climate resilience and sustainability.
The key focus areas of the summit include empowering vulnerable societies, technology and innovation, public-private collaboration, international collaboration and regulatory frameworks, mobilizing funding and responsible innovation, and seven thematic pillars central to the sustainability transition.
Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, Vice Chairman of the Dubai Supreme Council of Energy and Chairman of the World Green Economy Organisation, has stated that the summit's mission is to promote inclusive climate security. The summit aims to support concrete climate action, strengthen public-private partnerships, and contribute to a more equitable future.
The summit will centre on practical solutions to climate challenges and empowering vulnerable societies. It will explore how cutting-edge technologies, especially AI and IoT, can optimise renewable energy integration, improve predictive analytics for environmental risk mitigation, and enhance carbon emissions monitoring. The agenda places modern technologies such as artificial intelligence, the Internet of Things, and energy storage innovations at the forefront.
Moreover, the summit intends to encourage responsible innovation and mobilise funding to scale sustainable solutions for a greener and more equitable future. However, it remains unclear if the summit has set specific goals or targets for the transfer of knowledge, responsible innovation, or funding mobilization.
The 11th WGES 2025 will also address the global need for policy frameworks that support the development and adoption of green technologies, particularly in developing countries. The summit will highlight the necessity of cooperation between the government and private sector to develop and deploy green technologies effectively, including advancements in energy storage solutions.
The Dubai Supreme Council of Energy, DEWA, and the World Green Economy Organisation are the organisers of the summit. The city of Dubai, known as a global hub for climate action and sustainable development, will host the event. The summit aims to serve as a global platform to foster climate security inclusively and reinforce Dubai’s position as a hub for sustainable development and climate innovation.
