Elon Musk Slams "Pork-Filled" Trump Spending Bill as a "Disgrace"
Elon Musk Criticizes Trump-Supported Budget Proposal
Elon Musk, the visionary tech mogul, has lashed out at a significant tax and spending bill endorsed by former President Donald Trump, labeling it a "vile monstrosity." This piece offers an informal, straightforward take on Musk's strong criticism and the ensuing fallout.
The bill, passed by the House of Representatives last month, carries a staggering trillion-dollar price tag, featuring hefty tax breaks, an enhancement in military spending, and approval for a massive hike in government borrowing. Experts predict it will inflate the federal deficit by around $600 billion in the forthcoming fiscal year [1][2].
"I've had it up to here with this ridiculous, piggy Congressional spending bill. It's an appalling monstrosity," Musk wrote in a passionate post on X. "Scoff on the lot who voted for it: you know you balled this up. Acknowledge your iniquity."
Musk's acerbic remarks were made just a day prior to his departure from the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), a role he held for four heated months. His exit sparked attention, given his close association with Trump.
Rumors of a rift between the two were soon quelled by a post from the official X CEO account, which dismissed any intra-team squabbles and clarified the reasons behind Musk's departure.
"You can bet your britches that legacy media will attempt to convince you that President Trump and Elon Musk are no longer chums, and that's why Musk bid adieu," the post explained. "You won't hear them remind you that Elon was a Special Government Employee, restricted to 130 days of service, and that tenure concludes tomorrow."
With his exit fast approaching, Musk further vented his displeasure over the bill, asserting that it contradicts the DOGE team's mission and further strains the federal deficit [1].
"I reckon a bill can be both grand and beautiful, but I'm not sure if they can dance together, just in my humble opinion," Musk quipped.
