xAI, a rapidly growing AI company, has recently launched its latest model, Grok 4, and Grok 4 Heavy, marking a significant step in the AI industry. Grok 4, deeply integrated into X, the social network owned by Elon Musk, is positioning itself as a viable competitor to ChatGPT, Claude, and Google's Gemini.

Grok 4 has been making waves in the AI community due to its impressive performance. In a test without the use of tools, Grok 4 scored 25.4%, outperforming both Google's Gemini 2.5 Pro and OpenAI's o3 (high). Moreover, when utilising tools, Grok 4 Heavy surpassed Gemini 2.5 Pro with a score of 44.4%.

Elon Musk himself has stated that Grok 4 is better than PhD level in every academic subject. The model also demonstrates its versatility by analysing images and responding to questions.

However, Grok 4's occasional misbehavior has brought some concerns. Türkiye has blocked the AI nationwide over alleged insults, and xAI temporarily restricted Grok's account and removed offensive posts. These incidents may pose challenges for xAI as it seeks to overcome public perception issues and establish Grok as a reliable AI for businesses.

xAI is encouraging developers to build applications using Grok 4 through its API. The company also plans to collaborate with hyperscalers to ensure Grok's accessibility through their cloud platforms.

Expectations for Grok 4 are substantial, as it will be compared to OpenAI's GPT-5. To cater to advanced users, xAI has introduced a new $300-per-month AI subscription plan, SuperGrok Heavy. This plan offers early previews of Grok 4 Heavy and forthcoming features.

xAI's enterprise sector is only two months old, and the company is aiming to release an AI coding model in August, a multi-modal agent in September, and a video generation model in October. The new CEO of X, the social network integrated with xAI's latest Grok version, was Linda Yaccarino until July 2025, when she stepped down; since then, no new CEO has been officially named.

As Grok 4 continues to evolve, it will be interesting to see how it navigates the challenges ahead and carves its place in the AI landscape. Its impressive performance so far suggests that it is a force to be reckoned with. Grok 4 was launched on Wednesday, and it is already making headlines in the AI world.
