Enhance Video Footage Quickly with Boris FX Sapphire 2024
The latest release of Sapphire, the renowned visual effects toolkit from Boris FX, introduces several significant new features and improvements that enhance creative control, performance, and visual quality.
Sapphire 2024 introduces a new digital data mosh effect, S_PixelMosh, which allows users to add precise digital imperfections and glitches to footage. This effect, along with the revamped Time Effects category, offers options to smear and drag pixels, add colour blobs, and add digital decay, providing a unique and creative edge to video and motion graphics.
The Emmy Award-winning Lens Flares have been updated in Sapphire 2024, allowing every flare element to be affected by lens shadow, simulating more realistic light shading and reflections in the lens. This leads to more natural-looking flare effects in video and motion graphics. The update also includes new professional flare presets and remixed classic favourites.
The release also introduces a new PixelSort digital glitch art effect and a WhipLash transition, expanding the creative toolbox for digital artists and editors. A new shape animation tool has been added to the Effect and Transition Builder, allowing users more versatile animation options within the builder, streamlining complex effect creation.
Sapphire 2024 also includes a new S_Dust effect, optimized for particle simulation without complexity. This effect delivers photorealism to CG renders, enhances motion graphics, and lends cinematic ambience to static shots.
A brand-new cinematic color grading effect, Sapphire ColorFuse, lets users combine up to three LUTs with different opacities, or choose from 50 included presets. This effect supports colour space management following OCIO standards, offers GPU acceleration with CUDA and Metal, and runs natively on Apple M1 processors, enabling seamless and powerful colour grading workflows.
Extensive optimizations provide maximum CPU and GPU performance, resulting in significantly faster render times. For example, in Adobe After Effects, Sapphire renders are reportedly over 20% faster with multi-frame rendering support, improving workflow efficiency.
Over 300 new curated presets have been added across all Sapphire effects, designed for modern artistic needs, while many outdated presets have been deprecated and replaced for better usability and aesthetics.
Sapphire 2024 supports Adobe After Effects and Premiere Pro, Avid Media Composer, and OFX hosts. Subscriptions for Sapphire 2024 start at $495/year or $62/month, and customers with current subscriptions or upgrade & support plans receive Sapphire 2024 as a free update.
