Enhancing Chrome with Artificial Intelligence powered responses, security, and additional features is what Gemini is doing.
Google Introduces AI Browsing Assistant 'Gemini in Chrome'
In a significant move, Google has unveiled a new AI browsing assistant named Gemini in Chrome. This innovative feature is set to be rolled out to Android and iOS users soon, bringing a new level of convenience and security to web browsing.
The integration of Gemini extends to popular Google services such as Google Docs, Calendar, YouTube, and Maps. Users can expect a new Gemini button, which will serve as a gateway for leveraging the assistant's capabilities and integrating it with various Google apps.
One of the key features of Gemini is its enhanced security measures. It helps in blocking scams, fixing security issues, and even addressing compromised passwords. The security update also includes notification spam protection, similar to what Android users experienced in a previous update.
Gemini's security update offers a secure way of autofilling stored information in Chrome. It can perform multi-step tasks, such as ordering groceries, making it a versatile tool for everyday use.
In addition to security, Gemini also offers an AI-fueled browsing experience. For instance, Chrome can suggest questions based on the page you're viewing in AI Mode. Users can ask Gemini questions about articles they're reading or have it find references from YouTube videos.
AI Mode, available in the omnibox, will have stronger search capabilities, including the ability to ask longer, complex questions and follow-ups. For YouTube, users can ask Gemini to summarize videos and receive a list of key points with timestamps.
Google is also implementing parts of an AI-driven security update for its Chrome browser, which includes enhancements to the password protection feature and reduction of ad spam. AI Mode will be available in Chrome's address bar, starting in the U.S. (in English), rolling out later this month.
The rollout of Gemini in Chrome begins today (Sep 18) for Windows and Mac computers in the U.S. (English). AI Mode is expected to be expanded to more countries and support more languages in the weeks after the initial rollout.
Gemini, the AI browsing assistant, is also involved in the new security parameters for Chrome, ensuring a safer and more efficient browsing experience for all users.
