"Equipped with the mid pickup from the Modern Eagle V, PRS offers the ability to create classic, scooped tones reminiscent of Stratocasters, along with additional features, in its limited-edition PRS CE 24 Special model."
PRS Guitars Unveils Limited-Edition CE 24 Special Electric Guitar
PRS Guitars has announced the release of a new limited-edition electric guitar, the CE 24 Special Limited Edition. This high-end instrument, available for just 1,500 units in 2025, marks a significant milestone as PRS Guitars celebrates its 40th anniversary.
The CE 24 Special Limited Edition boasts a unique HSH (humbucker/single coil/humbucker) pickup configuration, a first for the CE series with a bolt-on neck. The guitar features PRS 85/15 humbuckers in the neck and bridge positions, and a new PRS NS-01 single-coil pickup in the middle. This expanded pickup configuration offers a wide and versatile tonal palette, providing players with classic scooped Strat-style tones alongside warm, full-bodied humbucker sounds.
The guitar's neck is a maple bolt-on, topped with a rosewood fingerboard, a feature that maintains the CE family’s signature snappy attack and enhanced resonance. The CE 24 Special also features a 25" scale length and a 10" fingerboard radius, a Pattern Thin neck, and a silky satin finish.
The hardware on the CE 24 Special includes a patented PRS tremolo and Phase III locking tuner combo, ensuring stable tuning and expressive playing. The guitar's body is made of solid mahogany, topped with figured maple, and it includes a PRS NS-01 single-coil pickup in the middle, inspired by the Modern Eagle V.
The CE 24 Special Limited Edition comes in a variety of finish options: Gray Burst, Smokeburst, Carroll Blue, McCarty Burst, and Black Amber. Each guitar features bird inlays. The retail price for the CE 24 Special is $2,749.
The release of the CE 24 Special follows the refresh of John Mayer's SE Silver Sky, which welcomed four new finish options for the rosewood fingerboard model, with some classic rosewood colorways migrating to the maple line. The CE 24 Special offers more warmth and versatility than some historic models with a similar setup, due to the tonal range of the 85/15 humbuckers.
The CE 24 Special Limited Edition also includes a premium gig bag, adding to its overall value. With its unique pickup configuration, high-quality construction, and limited availability, the CE 24 Special Limited Edition is sure to be a coveted addition to any guitar collection.
