EV models from Ford now feature route planning for NACS fast chargers within Apple Maps on CarPlay.

Ford electric vehicle (EV) owners can now enjoy a smoother charging experience, thanks to a new integration with Apple Maps. Starting today, Ford Mustang Mach-E and F-150 Lightning drivers can be automatically routed to Tesla's North American Charging Standard (NACS) fast charging stations, including compatible Tesla Superchargers.

To take advantage of this feature, Ford drivers must connect their iPhone to CarPlay. Once connected, Apple Maps will automatically include Tesla NACS fast charging stations in the charging station map layer. This means that when owners use Apple Maps with CarPlay, they can see Tesla Superchargers and other NACS fast chargers as charging options.

The integration also enables EV route planning that factors charging stops based on battery level. Apple Maps' EV Routing will suggest NACS charging stations along the way, providing real-time guidance to charging stations, including Tesla Superchargers. The feature shows an estimate of the battery level upon arrival for suggested NACS charging stations, ensuring that drivers can plan their trips with confidence.

Ford Mustang Mach-E and F-150 Lightning owners will find an NACS charging adapter included as standard equipment in their vehicles. This adapter allows easy access to Tesla charging stations. The new feature requires no software update and is available for vehicles using CarPlay with an iPhone running iOS 17 or later.

This integration is designed to enhance the EV experience for Ford customers. By providing a smoother charging experience, Ford aims to make long-distance travel more convenient and flexible for its EV owners using the expanding network of Tesla-compatible chargers.

For Ford drivers who wish to prefer NACS fast charging stations in Apple Maps, they must select them in the settings. This ensures that NACS chargers, including Tesla Superchargers, are always included in the charging station map layer.

To purchase the necessary adapter through Ford's official channels, Ford drivers can visit their local Ford dealership or Ford's official online store. With this integration, Ford EV owners can recharge on the go with ease and convenience.
