Evolving Wonders: The Future Awaits
In the heart of New York City, White & Case LLP's headquarters has been transformed into a cutting-edge hybrid event space, thanks to a collaborative effort between TAD, IVCi, and EMCOR Services Integrated Solutions.
The project's success was largely due to the close working relationship between TAD and IVCi, who adopted a more collaborative approach than traditional projects. This collaboration extended to White & Case as well, ensuring that the space met the firm's needs perfectly.
Originally, the design intent was more traditional. However, the pandemic and evolving needs forced a drastic shift towards hybrid events. The new space, designed by TAD and IVCi, now caters to both in-person and remote participants, accommodating the post-pandemic reality.
The technical integration of the AV systems for the new conference center was carried out by EMCOR Services Integrated Solutions. The design goal was to deliver immersive experiences while accommodating smaller, less complex presentations.
The Grand Hall, the centerpiece of the space, houses a 160-foot UHD LED video wall made of SiliconCore LED technology. This choice was driven by the building's cooling capacity and power limitations, ensuring the video wall's maximum power draw and heat output remained under 200 watts per square meter. The video wall covers the rear and side walls and can display dynamic content.
The Grand Hall also features Sony 4K PTZ cameras, Shure Axient digital wireless handheld microphones, and Renkus-Heinz digitally steerable line arrays, providing high-quality audio and visual experiences for both in-person and remote participants.
Clients seeking high-level production values for their events will find them in the hybrid environment offered by the Grand Hall. Remote participants can engage in the hybrid experience during White & Case's events, thanks to a more decentralized AV distribution solution implemented using AV-over-IP technology due to supply chain issues.
The facility is not limited to White & Case's internal events. It also provides a venue for outside organizations' meetings and conferences through Convene's Quorum by Convene service. Quorum by Convene handles turnkey event management for external organizations using White & Case's space, including event planning, technology, and AV services.
Two years ago, companies were content with a single technician running a PowerPoint presentation. Today, they are looking for teams of technicians to support camera switching, graphics production, audio cues, and more. This shift in expectations is reflected in the Grand Hall's state-of-the-art technology and the collaborative approach taken by TAD, IVCi, and White & Case.
As systems in projects like these continue to grow more complex, a more hands-on relationship between consultants and integrators will become the norm. The collaboration between TAD, IVCi, and White & Case on this project sets a precedent for future projects, demonstrating the value of a close, collaborative relationship in delivering successful, cutting-edge hybrid event spaces.
