East Thames Adopts iland's Disaster-Recovery-as-a-Service for Enhanced Business Continuity

East Thames, a UK public sector housing association, has announced the adoption of iland's Disaster-Recovery-as-a-Service (DRaaS) with Zerto, marking a significant step towards enhancing its business continuity.

Previously, East Thames faced challenges with its disaster recovery solution, which had high operational costs, was untested, and required significant capital investments. However, with the implementation of iland's DRaaS, the association has eliminated the need for such investments, resulting in significant cost savings.

The new solution allows East Thames to maintain the same network addressing scheme on-premises and in the iland cloud, enabling partial failovers to be executed easily in a truly hybrid environment. This means that no scripts or configuration changes are required for a single VM in a production environment.

By integrating cloud services, East Thames has significantly reduced recovery times from weeks to minutes. This is crucial for the association, as the transition to a 'cloud first' strategy is critical due to the importance of business continuity to meet customer needs and comply with regulations from the Homes and Communities Agency (HCA) of the UK Local Government and Business Continuity steering committee.

The adoption of iland's DRaaS is also expected to help East Thames achieve compliance with UK government regulations. Failed over applications are monitored by iland's advanced security settings to ensure ongoing compliance.

East Thames manages nearly 15,000 homes and offers various services, including care and support services, employment, and training programs. The association has prioritized updating its disaster recovery plans as part of its transition to a 'cloud first' strategy.

David Rushton, EMEA Channel Manager at Zerto, stated that organizations across industry sectors are focusing on the pivotal role of disaster recovery software and efficiencies in compliant infrastructure options due to the challenges of addressing ever-evolving compliance issues in their day-to-day operations.

Paul Clark, Head of Service Operations at East Thames, stated that the association's DR capability is no longer a risk item, thanks to this cloud-based solution. The UK public sector housing associations can simplify testing, improve reliability, and drastically reduce recovery times using iland's DRaaS.

However, specific details regarding the cost savings or operational efficiencies that East Thames achieved by adopting iland's DRaaS are not readily available. For precise data on these improvements and associated cost or efficiency metrics, it would be necessary to consult official case studies, vendor press releases, or East Thames’ own publications.

Iland's data centers in London and Manchester are ISO 27001 certified, providing proven security and compliance for East Thames. With this new disaster recovery solution, East Thames is well-positioned to meet the increasing demands of its customers and regulatory bodies.
