Expansion of D&B Soundscape: Here's the Lowdown You Should Know
Make Your Soundscape Sound Better: d&b audiotechnik's Latest Updates
The soundscape is getting a significant upgrade, as d&b audiotechnik introduces scalable I/O sizes for their popular DS100 and DS100M signal engine. This update allows users to customize their Soundscape system to perfectly fit their specific needs, whether they're working on small installations, mobile productions, or colossal immersive events.
With the addition of scalable I/Os, the DS100 firmware now offers three license sizes, enabling customers to pick their preferred I/O count based on their unique requirements. This expansion offers a more flexible and budget-friendly entry point for d&b Soundscape projects, while also bolstering larger productions with increased channel capacity. Existing users of DS100 and DS100M will receive a complimentary firmware update, boosting their maximum I/O processing from 64x64 to 128x64. To cater to a wider range of use cases, two new DS100 I/O sizes, providing 64x24 and 64x64 will be available, offering a variety of price points and application sizes. Users can upgrade their licenses at any time, allowing them to adjust I/O to their project's specific needs without needing additional hardware.
"Our goal with Soundscape has always been to redefine immersive audio experiences," said Daniel Zimmermann, product manager DSP and Network at d&b audiotechnik. "By making the DS100 more accessible to novice users, we're opening doors for sound designers, engineers, and creatives to get cracking on object-based mixing without limitations."
This expansion aligns with d&b audiotechnik's overall strategy to bring immersive audio technology to a broader audience, now supporting smaller applications like houses of worship, clubs, and restaurants, as well as improving complex productions like musical theatre. In addition, the available function groups have been doubled, making intricate systems simpler to manage. En-Scene will now come pre-installed on all future DS100, allowing users to immediately benefit from its groundbreaking object-based mixing capabilities.
"By offering scalable I/O and including En-Scene in every DS100, the Soundscape ecosystem is now more versatile and future-proof than ever," said Robb Allan, principal product manager Soundscape at d&b audiotechnik.
