Vauxhall Embraces Electrification with the Grandland Electric GS

Vauxhall, a British automotive brand now part of Stellantis for eight years, is embarking on a new era of design and innovation. This shift is evident in the Vauxhall Grandland Electric GS, a spacious and well-equipped electric vehicle that showcases the brand's commitment to electrification.

The Grandland Electric GS is built upon Stellantis' STLA Medium platform, designed for medium-sized electric vehicles. This platform supports a range of advanced electric drivetrains and battery technologies, enabling competitive electric range and performance.

Stellantis, the parent company, has appointed Gilles Vidal, a renowned automotive designer, as Head of Design for its European brands, including Vauxhall. Vidal's role includes shaping the design future with modern aesthetics aligned with electrification and brand heritage, which will influence new models like the Grandland Electric GS.

The Grandland Electric GS shares the STLA Medium platform architecture with other Stellantis models, allowing cost efficiencies, faster development cycles, and consistent technology integration across brands. This shared architecture also enables customer-centric innovation, with the Grandland Electric GS offering modern design, driving modes, and performance features tailored for electrified mobility needs.

The Grandland Electric GS is a simple car, suitable for complex times. It accelerates from 0-62mph in 9 seconds and has a top speed of 109 mph. The vehicle is large, bluffly handsome, with minimal exterior design features, making it a suitable choice for those who prefer understated elegance.

In contrast, the upcoming Mokka GSE boasts a power rating of 280PS, significantly higher than the Grandland Electric GS. The Mokka GSE is set to be part of Vauxhall's line-up, which primarily consists of SUVs and MPVs, including the Mokka, Frontera, Grandland, Combo Life, and Vivaro Life.

Vauxhall is also preparing the re-launch of its 'GSE' badge, a performance indicator that will be a step on from 'GSe' or 'Grand Sport Electric'. The Grandland Electric GS, however, is not aimed at extroverts, offering a spacious, quiet, and well-equipped vehicle that blends into the everyday.

This new strategy for design and innovation focuses on leveraging Stellantis’ advanced electrified vehicle platforms and design leadership to accelerate electrification and strengthen brand identity. The Vauxhall Grandland Electric GS exemplifies this strategy, with its competitive electric range, modern design, and customer-centric features.
