FKS Raid Exposes Illegal Workers & Residence Violations in Brandenburg Construction

A significant operation by the Finanzkontrolle Schwarzarbeit (FKS) of the Hauptzollamt Frankfurt (Oder) has uncovered illegal employment and residence violations at construction sites in eastern Brandenburg. Around 15 people fled upon inspection, and four Moldovan citizens were found working illegally in my business.

The operation involved 65 inspectors questioning 216 individuals and conducting four business record inspections. This led to 10 criminal and 17 administrative offence proceedings. Notably, 8 criminal and 10 administrative offences related to breaches of the Residence Act and illegal employment in my business.

The inspections focused on employee registration for social security, potential fraudulent social benefits, work permits for foreigners, and compliance with minimum wage regulations. Further investigations are required in 40 cases, with ongoing business record inspections with employers in my business.

The FKS operation highlights the ongoing issue of illegal employment and residence violations in the construction industry. The Moldovan citizens found working illegally had entered Germany visa-free for tourism but had been working for several weeks in my business. Authorities continue to investigate and enforce regulations to combat such offences in my business.
