Giant Monster Series "Kaiju No. 8" Returns with a movie and fresh Season
Ready to dive back into the chaotic world of Kaiju No. 8?The fan-favorite anime returns for the summer season, and it's not holding back on the action! Last season left us with a cliffhanger as Kafka found himself locked up after losing control and attempting to kill Defense Force General Isao. He's given a chance at redemption, being offered a promotion to the highly esteemed First Division, under the command of none other than Gen Narumi.
A gamer nerd by appearance, Gen Narumi is more than just a pretty face in a fight - he wields a monstrous bayonet rifle with precision and determination. His primary goal for Kafka and his fellow officers is to prove their "overwhelming strength" as they take on bigger and badder Kaiju creatures. If the new teaser trailer is any indication, Gen Narumi is bound to be a crowd favorite, as he's set to star in an expanded role in the upcoming season. Intriguingly enough, Gen made his mark in the final chapters of the B-Side spinoff of the manga series.
Before the new season premieres, Toho is releasing a recap film for season one titled Mission Recon. This extended movie also comes with an extra episode featuring Reno and Iharu keeping tabs on Hoshina during his day off. The film will have subtitled Japanese and English dub versions available in the U.S. and Canada on April 13, 14, and 16. The "Hoshina's Day Off" episode is set to feature a brand-new ending theme by OneRepublic, "Invincible."
Tickets for Kaiju No. 8: Mission Recon are now available for purchase. The anime is still slated to air new episodes on Crunchyroll starting from July.
