Google Unveils New Nest Cameras and Video Doorbell Powered by Gemini AI
Google has unveiled new Nest cameras and a video doorbell, boasting upgraded features and integration with the latest Google Gemini AI. The new devices, including the Nest Cam Outdoor, Nest Cam Indoor, and Nest Doorbell, are now available for purchase in the Google News section.
The Nest Cam Outdoor and Indoor, both in their wired versions, have received significant upgrades. They now offer a wider 153-degree diagonal view and capture 2K HDR video, Google's highest resolution yet. These cameras can zoom in and crop views, with animated zoomed-in previews set to arrive soon. They also excel in low-light conditions, thanks to full colour mode and infrared night vision.
Both new cameras and the video doorbell are equipped with Google Gemini. This AI platform enhances video history search, provides detailed notifications, and offers a feature called Home Brief. Gemini also enables the devices to detect people, animals, and vehicles more accurately. Security is prioritised with encryption by default and two-step verification.
The new Nest Cam Outdoor is priced at £119.99 / $149.99, the Nest Cam Indoor at £89.99 / $99.99, and the Nest Doorbell at £179.99 / $179.99. These devices, along with the Nest Doorbell, bring advanced features and improved security to Google's Smart Home lineup. They are now available for purchase from the Google Store and major retailers in the USA, with a European launch for the Nest Doorbell yet to be announced.
