Google's 'Autofill' feature expands, now offering to auto-fill browsing passwords and credit card information.

New Feature: Autofill with Google Now Available on Gboard

A new feature has been introduced to Gboard that allows users to easily fill out passwords and payment information without manually copying from a password manager. The feature, named "Autofill with Google," is now available on certain devices starting with Gboard version 15.7.4.

To enable "Autofill with Google" on Gboard, follow these steps:

  1. Open your device's Settings.
  2. Navigate to System > Languages & input > On-screen keyboard (the exact path might vary by device).
  3. Select Gboard.
  4. Find and enable the "Autofill with Google" toggle.
  5. After enabling, open Gboard while typing; you should see an Autofill shortcut icon in the shortcut tray or suggestion strip.
  6. Tap the icon to access two autofill options: Passwords (shows saved credentials for the current app) and Payment methods (shows stored cards, requiring a security code for payments).

The autofill shortcut icon is a square with an asterisk and a corner pencil. Users will receive a prompt to enable "Autofill with Google" in the system On-screen keyboard settings once it becomes available on their device.

It's important to note that passwords within "Autofill with Google" only show credentials for the app being used currently. Credit/debit cards require security codes within "Autofill with Google."

This feature is more convenient than relying on Gboard suggestions for saved passwords or credit/debit cards. It's also the first time Play services have been updated to support the new Gboard features. The latest update required for the new Gboard features is 25.30+, and the latest Gboard beta version is 15.7.5.787916401.

Please remember that the new Gboard features are not yet widely available. For more information, keep an eye on updates from Google.
