Google's Upcoming Pixel Model Design Unveiled Prematurely in Leak

It's not expected to arrive before July 2025 at the earliest, but with eight months to go before a potential launch, we've got our first glimpse at what seems to be the design of the Pixel 10.

This sneak peek into the external features comes from renowned industry leakster Sonny Dickson. In his latest post on X (formerly Twitter), he shares pictures of a proposed case for the Pixel 10. These cases will be crafted around 'blank' versions of the handset.

Usually made from aluminum, these blanks are supplied to accessory manufacturers so they can develop peripherals that align with the correct placement of the various buttons, sliders, ports, cameras, and screens, without having access to a finished product. These manufacturers get a heads-up fairly early in the production phase.

Thanks to the sharp angle of the images, only one edge element can be discerned - at the bottom of the unit, where it appears there's a cutout for the USB-C charging and connectivity cable. Given where the Pixel range typically positions the USB port, this isn't a shock.

It's also not surprising that Google is sticking with the camera bar. This feature debuted with the Pixel 6, not only catering to the physical needs of a smartphone camera but also offering a distinctive and immediately recognizable style to the Pixel family. The width of the bar was narrowed down with the Pixel 9, curving the ends rather than meeting flat with the device.

If this case is to be believed, the Pixel 10 will continue with this rounded camera bar. So, it's safe to assume that the presumably named Pixel 10 Pro and Pixel 10 Pro XL will adopt the same design philosophy.

The current Pixel 9 family was introduced in mid-August 2024. A similar timeline for the Pixel 10 family wouldn't feel out of place. Before that, we have the small matter of the Pixel 9a, a mid-range variant of the current handsets. Google's I/O Developer Conference could potentially serve as a launch event, aligning with the Pixel 8a’s early May release.
