Greifswald's DIC Moves to BioTechnikum & TZV, City Welcomes Modernization
Greifswald's Digital Innovation Center (DIC) will now be integrated into the BioTechnikum and Technology Center (TZV) instead of the Old Mensa on Schießwall. The city welcomes this change, which will also see both facilities modernized.
WITENO GmbH is leading the project, with the city contributing 75% and other shareholders including Sparkasse Vorpommern and the University of Greifswald. The BioTechnikum's ground floor will be transformed into meeting and demonstration areas for digital transformation.
Mayor Dr. Stefan Fassbinder approves of the coordinated plans, stating it's a win for existing facilities, future target groups, and the city. The new plans can be implemented faster as construction is done in the existing portfolio, avoiding heritage protection and pollutant challenges. The TZV will also be modernized, creating new demonstration areas and modern conference rooms for industry, services, and commerce. The expansion of the TZV's laboratory building is favored, resulting in around 3,500 m² of attractive office space and up-to-date meeting areas.
The integration of the Digital Innovation Center into the BioTechnikum and TZV locations is not specified in available search results. However, the funding amount of 17 million euros and own funds remain unchanged. The city aims to strengthen both locations with this integration.
