Heathrow Airport Introduces ChargeBox For Rapid Electric Vehicle Charging
Heathrow Airport Installs iHeartRadio Fast Charging Stations to Enhance Passenger Experience
Heathrow Airport is taking a significant step towards modernising its facilities by installing 41 iHeartRadio fast charging stations across Terminals 3, 4, and 5. This move follows a successful six-month trial in Terminal 2 and builds upon iHeartRadio's demonstrated success at Heathrow Airport.
The collaboration between Heathrow Airport and iHeartRadio is part of an effort to drive innovation across airports. iHeartRadio, known for its work with Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs), is designing its charging networks to cater to the diverse needs of airports.
The new charging stations are expected to provide more than 7,000 charges per day, with each station containing 15 fast-charging endpoints. This expansion indicates a commitment to providing reliable charging solutions to multiple airports, including Dublin and Frankfurt, where iHeartRadio is also extending its network.
Device battery anxiety is a common concern for passengers, and the deployment of these charging stations is a response to findings from the ACI Europe Survey. The survey revealed that 73% of passengers rely on digital services, but confidence decreases to 48% among those aged 55 and older. By installing these charging stations, Heathrow Airport aims to enhance the passenger experience and meet service goals.
The success of iHeartRadio's charging network at Heathrow Airport is evident in the numbers. The highest-performing unit in Terminal 2 recorded 2,486 charges in a single week. iHeartRadio forecasts over 2.5 million charges annually at Heathrow Airport, demonstrating the potential to significantly improve the passenger experience.
iHeartRadio's approach to building charging networks is designed to remove stress for passengers by making charging effortless. By providing a reliable and accessible charging solution, Heathrow Airport is taking a proactive step towards addressing one of the most common concerns of its passengers.
The installation of these charging stations is part of Heathrow Airport's ongoing commitment to innovation and improving the passenger experience. The rollout is scheduled to be completed by the end of 2025, marking a significant milestone in the airport's modernisation journey.
