HRF Funds 20+ Global Bitcoin Projects With 10 BTC

The Human Rights Foundation (HRF) has allocated 1 billion satoshis (equivalent to 10 BTC) from its Bitcoin Development Fund, supporting over 20 global projects. The grants aim to bolster open-source Bitcoin development, enhance digital privacy, and promote financial autonomy, particularly in regions affected by authoritarian governance.

HRF's funding will benefit various initiatives across Latin America, Africa, and Asia. TollGate, a decentralized internet project, will transform standard WiFi routers into peer-to-peer internet providers using Bitcoin and ecash. Meanwhile, BTCenEspañol plans to train over 100 instructors and reach over one million learners throughout South America.

Africa Bitcoin Institute (ABI) in Rwanda will continue promoting financial sovereignty on the continent. Vinteum, a nonprofit R&D center, will expand its educational programs and developer sponsorships. BTCPay Server will improve its accessibility and global reach, while NetBlocks, a digital rights watchdog, will expand its real-time monitoring and reporting of internet shutdowns.

The Core in Kenya will grow its Bitcoin education programs across Kenya and beyond. HRF's grants aim to strengthen open-source Bitcoin development, enhance digital privacy, and promote financial autonomy in regions impacted by authoritarian governance.
