Hyundai Ioniq 9 Revolutionizes EV Charging: 24 Min to 80% Range
Hyundai's latest electric vehicle, the Ioniq 5, boasts an impressive 100 kWh battery, offering up to 380 miles on a single charge. Developed in collaboration with Lucid, its charging performance software ensures a seamless experience.
The Ioniq 5 can charge from 10 to 80 percent in just 24 minutes, thanks to its peak charging power of 240 kW. This means electric mobility is less about charging time and more about break time, with around 310 miles of range available after a short charge.
Powered by an 800-volt architecture, the Ioniq 5 reduces heat generation and saves weight, increasing efficiency at fast-charging stations. It offers up to 326 horsepower, providing smooth acceleration without compromising on efficiency. Despite its weight of around 2.6 tons, the Ioniq 5 maintains a low drag coefficient (cW of 0.27) and features a standard heat pump to ensure optimal efficiency.
In the cockpit, the Ioniq 5 displays detailed charging power information, including charging curve, voltage, and current strength, to build trust and enable better planning. Compared to competitors like the Tesla Model Y (32 minutes) and VW ID. Buzz (over 40 minutes), the Ioniq 5's charging speed is noteworthy. Even at a constant 80 miles per hour on the highway, the Ioniq 5 retains over 248 miles of range.
The Hyundai Ioniq 5 sets new standards in electric vehicle charging speed and range. With its advanced 800-volt architecture, efficient powertrain, and comprehensive charging information display, it offers a compelling package for eco-conscious drivers.
