IBM teams up with e& to bolster AI oversight and regulation adherence framework
In a significant move towards responsible AI innovation, e& and IBM have announced a collaboration aimed at deploying a pioneering end-to-end AI and Generative AI governance solution. This groundbreaking initiative was unveiled at the World Economic Forum 2025 in Davos, with the goal of promoting ethical, transparent, safe, and compliant AI practices across e&'s growing AI ecosystem.
The heart of this collaboration is IBM's watsonx.governance platform, an enterprise AI and data governance solution that offers dynamic monitoring with real-time insights into model performance, risk scoring, and compliance metrics. IBM Consulting will work closely with e& to design and implement a tailored AI governance framework that addresses key governance challenges and reduces risks associated with AI.
The AI governance framework will be multi-model and end-to-end, covering various AI models and the entire AI lifecycle within e&'s ecosystem. It aims to reinforce compliance, oversight, risk management, and regulatory controls in deploying AI solutions. The platform fosters ethical AI deployment by establishing clear governance, ensuring AI systems are trustworthy and aligned with regulatory standards.
Moreover, the solution supports transparency and accountability in AI operations, helping the organization manage AI risks effectively. It introduces advanced features like automated risk management, compliance monitoring, and real-time performance analysis. The solution is expected to empower e& to monitor current AI use cases in real-time, proactively manage any potential AI risks in production, and deliver measurable value to stakeholders.
The collaboration reinforces e&'s commitment to establishing robust governance, risk management, and regulatory oversight across its AI usage. Dena Almansoori, the group chief AI and data officer at e&, stated that the collaboration ensures transparency, explainability, and efficiency across e&'s AI operations. Shukri Eid, the general manager of IBM in the Gulf, Levant, and Pakistan, echoed this sentiment, saying that IBM watsonx addresses key governance challenges and reduces risks associated with AI.
This collaboration builds on the relationship between IBM and e&, including the joint report titled "MENA's AI advantage: Opportunity to leap ahead and lead." The framework will include defining workflows, key performance indicators, and onboarding existing AI models onto the platform. Persona and journey mapping, market research, architecture patterns for AI integration, and knowledge transfer materials will be part of the deployment.
By implementing this AI governance solution, e& aspires to create a robust governance framework across its AI applications, facilitating responsible AI usage at scale and addressing complexities tied to risk and compliance in AI adoption. This initiative is part of e&'s broader strategy in AI, which includes deepening partnerships with other technology firms and promoting productivity and AI skills within their ecosystem and region.
