Iconic BMW M Collection Set to Sell for $4.2M at Munich Auction
A stunning collection of over 20 BMW M performance cars, including iconic classics and modern icons, is set to go under the hammer this month in Munich. The collection, which is expected to sell for around $4.2 million in total, features a wide range of M models that represent milestones in the history of BMW's high-performance division.
Highlights of the collection include a 1980 BMW M1 supercar with striking red, purple, and blue stripes, estimated to sell for up to €600,000 ($704,000). Also up for grabs is a 1975 BMW 2002 Turbo with Alpina cotton-reel rims and a five-speed dogleg transmission. Modern M cars such as the 2016 BMW M3 GTS and the 2023 BMW M4 CSL are also part of the collection.
For BMW M enthusiasts, the collection offers a chance to own key iconic M models like the M3 and M5, with various generations represented. Rare finds include a 2003 Alpina Roadster, Alpina's take on the Z8, and a 2010 BMW M3 CRT, one of the rarest BMWs ever produced. Two BMW M3s from the E30 3-series period, including a 2.5-liter Sport Evo coupe and a 2.3-liter convertible, are also part of the collection. Adding a touch of uniqueness, a 1995 BMW Z1 sports car with drop-down doors is also up for auction.
