In Munich's debut, the Polestar 5 showcases a high-performance grand tourer model
The Swedish electric performance car manufacturer, Polestar, has made a bold statement with its latest creation, the Polestar 5. This all-electric four-door performance grand tourer (GT) was unveiled at the IAA Mobility in Munich, offering a potential glimpse into the future of performance vehicles.
The Polestar 5, a sleek and sculpted electric vehicle inspired by aviation, was the centrepiece of the Experience Lab in Munich. In stark contrast to the traditional motor show outside, the minimalist space blended installation and immersion, using light, sound, and scent to allow visitors to experience the future, rather than just observe it.
Built with sustainability at its core, the Polestar 5 boasts an 800-volt system, up to 650 kW power (840 hp), a 106 kWh battery, and a range of up to 650 km. The engineering choices for this vehicle include developing an aluminium platform in-house for weight, efficiency, and performance considerations. The design features taut surfacing and a wing-like aerodynamic profile, making it a sight to behold on the roads.
Meanwhile, the Mille Miglia, an event unlike anything you've ever seen, requires preparation for a unique Italian experience. Scheduled for summer 2025, this race and fashion parade event in Italy promises an unforgettable experience.
Shana Claessens, a Belgian racing driver, reflected on her experience of driving a Polestar 4 at Circuit Zolder. Claessens, who experiences home wherever her Polestar takes her, found the vehicle's interior to be stripped back yet rich in detail, with clean surfaces and innovative materials.
Sergio Marques, another driver, found his home for one weekend in late February in Jokkmokk, reindeer and Northern Lights territory. It is clear that the Polestar 5, with its focus on high-performance, luxury electric vehicles, is making a significant impact in the world of automotive technology.
The Mille Miglia, with its rich history and Italian charm, offers a stark contrast to the futuristic Polestar 5. Yet, both share a common thread - a commitment to pushing boundaries and redefining what is possible. As we look towards 2025, it is exciting to imagine the Polestar 5 cruising the picturesque Italian roads during the Mille Miglia, a perfect blend of tradition and innovation.
