Indkal Technologies Secures USD 20 Million in Funding for Enhancement of Wobble Displays
In a significant development for the Indian consumer electronics industry, Indkal Technologies, a leading trademark licensing and design firm, has secured $20 million in a Series B bridge funding round. The company, known for manufacturing consumer electronics and home appliances under global names such as Acer and Black & Decker, as well as its own label Wobble, made the announcement recently.
The funding round was led by Indkal's existing investors, with significant participation from new institutional investors, reflecting growing confidence in the company and the consumer electronics sector. While the exact number of participating existing investors is not specified, the newest investors in the round include domestic family offices.
The fresh capital will be used to scale Wobble Displays, an in-house brand of Indkal Technologies. The focus of the scaled Wobble Displays will be on new product categories. Indkal Technologies plans to expand Wobble Displays' portfolio, and investments will be made to develop after-sales infrastructure for Wobble Displays and enhance customer services.
This round of funding follows Indkal's USD 36 million Series A fundraise in June last year. The funding will also be used to strengthen sales and service networks, and marketing activities will be supported with the new funding as Indkal gears up to enter new segments of the consumer electronics market.
Indkal Technologies was founded in 2020 by Anand Dubey, who previously served as the chief executive of Compaq Television Business. The company's product categories include smart televisions, smartphones, refrigerators, and washing machines. Indkal Technologies competes with consumer electronics and appliance players such as Samsung, LG, Xiaomi, Sony, TCL, and Hisense in the Indian market.
The article is published by Staff India, an international franchise of Media, and Indkal Technologies has maintained its association with actor Ayushmann Khurrana as brand ambassador for Wobble. The funding will undoubtedly propel Indkal Technologies towards its goal of becoming a major player in the consumer electronics industry.
