Industry Veteran Lars Pauly to Lead Chinese Brands Omoda and Jaecoo in Austria
Lars Pauly, an automotive industry veteran with a proven track record in Europe, is set to lead the market entry of Chinese car brands Omoda and Jaecoo in Austria. With the first models, Omoda 5 and Jaecoo 7, slated to debut by the end of 2025, Pauly's appointment signals a significant step in the expansion of these brands in the European market.
Pauly brings a wealth of experience to his new role, having previously worked at Mercedes and BYD. His expertise in building new brands in Europe will be invaluable as he takes the helm at Colmobil GmbH, the official importer for Omoda and Jaecoo in Austria. The company, based in Vienna, will establish a national sales and service network to support the launch of these Chinese brands.
The parent company, Chery Auto, is the largest Chinese car exporter and the fourth largest OEM in China. This backing, coupled with Pauly's leadership, promises a strong entry into the Austrian stock market today. The increasing user base of Omoda and Jaecoo, which has grown from 50,000 to over 500,000 in the last two years, further underscores the potential of these brands.
Agnieszka Kühn will succeed Pauly as the CEO of Mercedes-Benz Austria starting November 1, 2025, allowing Pauly to focus fully on the market entry of Omoda and Jaecoo. With the debut of the first models and a robust network in place, Austria is set to witness a significant presence of these Chinese car brands under Pauly's leadership.
